Tara Meran, Slacks & Co.’s founder and London based trouser designer, developed the brand's concept around fabulously fitting tailored women's trousers for fashionable mothers-to-be.

EDWARD SEXTON

Frustrated with trying to find great fitting trousers, which were flattering, elegant and comfortable, she turned to creating her own by consulting Edward Sexton, Savile Row tailor extraordinaire. Edward revolutionized Savile Row in the 60’s with his infamous shop Nutters and it was with him that Stella McCartney completed her internship, before becoming Creative Director at Chloe, where he in turn created the tailoring pieces in the Collections. “When it comes to combining the traditional Savile Row tailoring know-how with women’s prêt-a-porter style and needs, Edward Sexton is second to none. A master in his field!”

MOTHER-TO-BE

It was during pregnancy that Tara found the choice of luxurious trousers even more restrictive, with only premium denim brands still accessible or badly cut polyester and viscose mix black trousers available in abundance. So she set out to adapt her tailored styles, and create a range that would suit her everyday needs of living and working in London, which she could rely on as her wardrobe staple which would make her feel and look great.

BACKGROUND STORY

Tara, the Austrian British designer behind the brand, has spent 8 years working in the fashion industry, including designers such as Alexander McQueen and Cerrutti 1881. She originally trained in the buying team at the prestigious department store Harvey Nichols in London, where she started on the Leisure Wear section at a time when the American premium denim brands were first coming to Europe pioneering the denim trend which was to follow.
